Manikavasagam Confirms Vying For PKR Vice-presidency

SHAH ALAM, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- Kapar Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-chief S. Manikavasagam confirms he is vying for the vice-president's post in the party election scheduled in November.

He said nine PKR divisions in Perak, Penang, Pahang and Sabah, which held their annual general meetings yesterday, had nominated him for the post.

He said the divisions were Kampar, Batu Gajah, Batu Kawan and Ipoh Barat in Perak, Permatang Pauh in Penang, Beaufort, Papar and Kota Marudu in Sabah and Indera Mahkota in Pahang.

"My decision to contest is made after taking into account various factors, including the unexpected support, especially from Sabah.

"I regard this as an opportunity for me to further my role in helping the leadership to strengthen the party for the future of the religion, race and country," he said when contacted by Bernama.
